Stella McCartney’s 2020 #NoLessAWoman Breast Cancer Initatives

Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Lynsey Addario and filmmaker/activist Alice Aedy captured 12 women of diverse ages and backgrounds through a film and photo series called “In A Letter to My Loved Ones” as part of Stella McCartney’s 2020 #NoLessAWoman campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer.

The women in the series bared their scars, stories and strength while sharing words they wrote to the people who matter most, while wearing designs by McCartney.

“I don’t think people realise how many young women are diagnosed with breast cancer; many of these women were initially even sent away by their GPs,” Addario said on a page of the Stella McCartney website. “I think it was so hard to hear these stories, but the recurring theme was that every woman was so incredibly optimistic, resilient and really had tried to find a kind of strength in their cancer.”

The Stella McCartney Foundation is a UK-registered charity started by the fashion designer and daughter of musician, singer and songwriter Paul McCartney and his photographer and musician wife Linda, who passed away from breast cancer in 1998.

Stella McCartney has contributed to breast cancer awareness since 2014 through information campaigns and donating proceeds from products to support centres and charities worldwide.

For 2020, sales of the Stella McCartney Cares Pink Whitney Popping lingerie set are supporting the foundation by aiding breast cancer initiatives globally, including the Hello Beautiful Foundation in London and the Linda McCartney Centre in Liverpool, England.

Stella McCartney Cares Pink is "a platform dedicated to the prevention, early detection and treatment of breast cancer through education, awareness and support; an important cause incredibly close to Stella’s heart," it reads on the site.
