The organization that grants wishes for seriously ill kids and teens in the UK is the same cause for which fellow British chart-toppers One Direction and Leona Lewis are ambassadors.
Nineteen-year-old Maynard is not an ambassador yet for the charity, but he did perform for 1500 seriously ill children at the Rays of Sunshine concert in June at The Royal Albert Hall in London, England, alongside Lewis, JLS, Adam Lambert, and others.
“Actually, one of the first things I ever said in one of my first interviews, funnily enough, was that I would love to get to the point one day where I have that power to make a massive difference for charity. I feel like if this album goes as well as I hope it will, and everything that follows goes really well, then I’d love to do it.
“It was actually the first performance my parents ever came to watch so that was quite funny as well and really cool. But, yeah, I would definitely like to get involved with charity in any possible way when the time is right.”
Maynard received the Silver Clef Best Newcomer Award in London on June 29, at the annual awards show which raises funds for Nordoff-Robbins, a charity that provides music therapy for adults and children.
