The Lady Gaga co-founded Born This Way Foundation has created its first book, Channel Kindness: Stories of Kindness and Community.
“I wish I had a book like Channel Kindness when I was younger to help me feel acknowledged, remind me that I’m not alone, and encourage me to better support myself and others,” Gaga, who was born Stefani Germanotta to her mother and Born This Way Foundation co-founder Cynthia Germanotta, said in a media release.
“Now it’s here and anyone at any age will benefit from the stories inside. This book affirms what we already know to be true — kindness will heal the world.”
The 304-page hard cover book was written by contributors to the Born This Way Foundation’s Channel Kindness program, which seeks to uplift young voices by providing a storytelling platform for first-person accounts of everyday acts of bravery and kindness. It also includes an essay and notes of empowerment from Gaga.
Channel Kindness is published by Feiwel & Friends. The print version can be purchased for $33.99 and the Kobo version for $12.99 in Canada through Indigo. It’s also available through American online and physical bookstores.
Gaga and her mother co-founded the Born This Way Foundation in 2012 after meeting young people around the world who shared stories with them and inspired them.
The not-for-profit organization works with researchers and builds action-oriented programs and campaigns while providing resources and tools for youth to solve problems and drive change in their communities.
Aside from Channel Kindness, the Born This Way Foundation’s programs include teen Mental Health First Aid and #BeKind21.
