Thirty-one years after the release of the groundbreaking single “Fight The Power,” Public Enemy has released another fiery anthem urging people to battle racism, injustice and oppression with their vote.

“State of the Union (STFU),” produced by DJ Premier, takes on United States president Donald Trump and how Public Enemy frontman Chuck D believes he’s destroying the country and its people with his policies and approach.

“Our collective voices keep getting louder,” said D in a media release. “The rest of the planet is on our side.

“But it’s not enough to talk about change. You have to show up and demand change.”

“Folks gotta vote like their lives depend on it, ‘cause it does,” added group member Flavor Flav. “It’s time for him to GO.”

“State of the Union (STFU)” is available for free on the Public Enemy website and from all major streaming services.

Public Enemy, which formed in 1985, has released 14 studio albums. It was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.

The legendary hip-hop group kicked off the 20th annual BET Awards on June 28 with a performance of “Fight The Power” that was intercut with protest footage and guest performances. D and Flav were joined by Public Enemy members DJ Lord, S1Ws and Professor Griff for the 2020 tribute to the classic song, which also featured new verses by Nas, Rapsody, Black Thought, YG, Questlove and JAHI that were recorded in various locations.
