Toronto Fashion Week ‘Dares To Wear Love’ Event

Hoax Couture and the Fashion Design Council of Canada (FDCC) are partnering with the Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) to produce a closing night runway show with Canada’s top designers at LG Fashion Week beauty by L’Oréal Paris. Dare to Wear Love on Oct. 23 will combine African-themed fashion, dance and music.

A Dare to Remember is SLF’s new national campaign to challenge Canadians to take on dares of all kinds to raise awareness and funds for AIDS organizations in Africa. Monies raised goes to SLF, which works to support communities that are affected by the AIDS pandemic there.

More than 25 top designers, including Lida Baday, Brian Bailey, Brose, Pam Chorley, Wayne Clark, Comrags, David Dixon, Evan Biddell, Farley Chatto, Greta Constantine, Izzy Camilleri, Linda Lundström, Lucian Matis, Ross Mayer, Jason Meyers and Price Roman, will create gowns made of fabrics sourced from the African communities that work with the SLF.

Each designer has been asked to have their own family, friends and supporters sponsor this dare with the goal of raising $100,000 for the SLF. The public can make a donation to at www.daretowearlove.com.

An auction of the show’s one-of-a-kind garments will happen at a later date and all proceeds will benefit the SLF.
