The 16th annual “Mois des Câlins de Sainte-Justine” campaign has kicked off to benefit the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation after raising close to $5 million since 2007.

For every $20 limited-edition tube of Clarins Rose Câlins Lip Perfector sold at 344 Jean Coutu stores across Quebec, the manufacturer and retailer will donate $10 to the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation. There are 30,000 tubes on shelves.

The money will support the University of Montreal-affiliated Centre hospitalier universitaire (CHU) Sainte-Justine, the largest mother and child centre in Canada and one of the four most important pediatric centres in North America.

The proceeds from this year’s campaign will also support initiatives designed to humanize services at CHU Sainte-Justine’s Marie Enfant Rehabilitation Centre (CRME), the only exclusively pediatric rehabilitation facility in Quebec.

CRME is the only facility in Quebec dedicated exclusively to pediatric rehabilitation. It treats 5,000 children annually for a wide variety of locomotor and speech impairments.

CRME’s mission is to help young patients develop their capacities, optimize their independence and acquire skills essential to daily living by providing them with ultra-specialized adaptation, rehabilitation and social integration services.

Rehabilitation equipment and treatments are selected based on the specific needs of each patient and family in order to increase the potential for leading an active life and integrating into society in the academic, recreational and professional spheres.

The Mois des Câlins de Sainte-Justine campaign will once again receive a boost from its “Hug Squad,” five women who will hit the airwaves of Cogeco Media’s four Rythme radio stations to speak on behalf of children who need a helping hand and ask listeners to donate to the cause.

Young artists aged five to 12 are asked to submit drawings by Feb. 11 for a contest where the winner’s work will grace the Rose Câlins Lip Perfector box, just like the winning submission from last year is on the current packaging. The winner will also receive a $1,000 gift certificate to a book and toy retailer. Entry information, in French, can be viewed here.
