Rolling Green has partnered with Telefilm Canada as part of its efforts to promote the adoption of sustainable practices on Quebec film sets.

Through this partnership, Telefilm will support the completion of a case study that will allow Rolling Green to measure the environmental footprint of a major Quebec feature film. The study will be carried out by the Conseil québécois des événements écoresponsables (CQEER), an environmental expert and co-founding partner of the Rolling Green program. The CQEER will support the production through all its steps in order to facilitate the establishment of sustainable actions and measure their real impact.

This project will help Quebec’s audio-visual industry to take advantage of hard data that will allow it to better understand its environmental footprint and identify actions to prioritize to reduce it.

“We are delighted to partner with Rolling Green as we have just launched the first phase of our Eco-responsibility Action Plan, which recognizes the importance of education in this area,” Telefilm executive director and chief executive officer Christa Dickenson said in a media release.

“It is essential to support research that tells us how we can make a real difference by adopting an eco-responsible production approach. Sharing knowledge and being there for each other is the first step of our commitment.”

Rolling Green was established in Quebec last April and is supported by several partners to facilitate the adoption of sustainable actions during audio-visual and film productions by providing tools, support and resources to all industry players.

Telefilm is a Crown corporation dedicated to the success of Canada’s audio-visual industry through fostering access and excellence by delivering programs that support cultural resonance and audience engagement.

Telefilm also makes recommendations regarding the certification of audio-visual co-production treaties to the Minister of Canadian Heritage and administers programs of the Canada Media Fund.
