For the filming of the music video for his latest single, “Intentions,” Justin Bieber visited Alexandria House, a Los Angeles homeless shelter helping economically poor women and their families, along with Quavo from Migos. The song is from the Canadian pop artist’s new album, Changes.

Since it's release to YouTube Feb. 6, the video has been viewed more than 30 million times, bringing much-needed attention to the shelter.

"Join Justin Bieber in supporting Alexandria House's mission to help women and children move from crisis to stability by donating to the INTENTIONS Fund here," it reads underneath, linking to the dedicated page.

"Homelessness is growing at an alarming rate - and women and children are the largest growing population in need. Our current reality is that there are women with babies, toddlers, youth and teens living in cars, on couches and floors, or on the streets."

In the heartwarming six-minute-plus video, director Michael D. Ratner showcases the lives of three of the charity’s residents: Bahri, a young woman born in Saudi Arabia who is attempting to become the first in her family to graduate college; Marcy, a 19-year-old mother who advocates for foster rights; and Angela, an older woman who left a life of despair in Ohio to pursue her love of poetry in L.A.

Ratner allows each woman to tell their stories in their own narrative, and when Bieber and Quavo drop by, the former generously rewards Angela with free studio time to record and  express her art, written with homeless women and children in mind;  Marcy, with backpacks full of materials to continue education and Bahri with her own SUV so she doesn’t have to commute the two-to-three hours each way by bus to attend school.

Near the conclusion of the video, Judy Vaughan, founding director of Alexandria House is featured, expressing her own intentions:

“My intention is to speak truth to power, to speak about the injustices and the need for equity,” she says, as the video eventually fades out revealing that Bieber has established an Intentions Fund with an initial (US) $200,000 donation, relayed on the screen in print.

“Thank you to the Alexandria House for opening your doors and your hearts to Bahri, Mercy and Angela and this entire community in times of need.  In your honor, an Intensions Fund has been established in the amount of $200,000 to support these women and the dreams of the families you support.”

Founded in 1996, Alexandria House is a transitional residence and house of hospitality that provides safe and supportive housing for women and children in the process of moving from emergency shelter to economic stability and permanent housing.

Alexandria House also provides educational and enrichment opportunities for their neighbours and residents in the mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles, where more than 92 percent of the women who have moved through the program have secured financial stability and permanent housing.
